I am a 58 year old woman, still working full time but looking forward to retirement. I have such a long list of things to do when I retire. My interests besides food include reading (mysteries, Sci Fi, adventure, police procedurals, most anything really, but all fiction), gardening, dogs, shopping, way too many things. I also write and hope to publish someday.

Murder mysteries, Sci Fi, Police Procedurals, thrillers, most any fiction.
Favorite Movies, Actors, Genres:

Harry Potter movies, all of them. Like sci fi, actually like a lot of movies. Independence Day, Men in Black, The Day After, holocaust stuff.

Jericho! I was one of the nuts that Saved Jericho, at least for one more short season. Dresden Files, Life, Dead Like Me, Fringe, True Blood, Warehouse 13.

White sand beaches of the Gulf Coast, Whitefish, Montana, lots of places in between.

I just write my post and then click on the names of the groups I want to send it to. Yes, the splendid table one is a bit more specialized (you can listen to Splendid Table on NPR's website) but as far as I know you can post your things about food to them. Go to their Gather site page and read up on it. I've never gotten an email from anyone there that i was doing anything wrong. I haven't had a real chance to actually listen to Splendid Table in awhile but I normally just post all the articles to certain groups. Sometimes I specialize one or two for specific groups. You can do that too.

Actually I started out Saturday morning preparing home made spaghetti sauce for my son and his wife - they are ready to have a new baby any minute now - for baked spaghetti. Well long story short I was gone for the day and my husband and his buddy put a dent into the sauce for a spaghetti dinner. Which by no means is a big deal. Well then my husband wanted baked spaghetti last night for dinner so I made that for him leaving me no sauce for my son and his wife....guess what I am doing tonight? I have to admit it was a great sauce, I had a couple spoonfuls. My husband is a huge fan of Italian food so I am always happy to serve that up for him. When he behaves it gets meatballs:) We are going to a dinner Saturday night and I have to take bruschetta - any good recipes? I have fresh basil in my garden and thought about preparing with the Santa sweet (grape size tomatoes).
I am not good with pies.....I wish I were but the crust is so much work!

Hey Charlene, I am commited to stay in touch - hope you had a good weekend! Any fun cooking/entertaining news? Still trying to feel my way around "Gather". I work from home so if I sit at the computer I don't feel like I am away from the office, make sense?
